Tite-Live décrit le passage de l'armée carthaginoise à travers les Alpes mentionne que le Grand-Saint-Bernard, la col consacrée à le dieu Poenius, ainsi que le Petit-Saint-Bernard consacrée à Juppiter, dieux bien sur d’origine celtique, en introduisant une analyse claire très intéressant sur la structure religieuse de la population qui vivait sur le territoire d'Augusta Pretoria, l'un des Salasses qui, évidemment, avait l'habitude de leur consacrer tous les aspects de la nature.
Une religion si simple, mais apparemment frappé les Romains une fois subjugué la région car les guides des sites, qu’ils etaient nécessaires pour la traversée de le pas fourni à l'ensemble des tablettes votives en raison de protection long du chemin: imaginez-vous nos braves légions avec les tablettes dans la main ...
